Spirit of Experimentation

The wise Bob Ross once said, ‘We don’t make mistakes – we just have happy accidents.’

Step beyond your comfort zone by working with unconventional or makeshift tools and materials. Turn the typical notion of portraiture or figure on its head. This season, join us and challenge yourself to try something different.

ENROL NOW: Term starts from 30 Oct! Existing students do NOT need to re-enrol.

Explorer’s Art   (3 – 5 yrs)

PlayART

Introducing PlayART with an artistic bang as we come to the end of 2021! Our Explorers will create art through action, experimentation and a whole lot of fun! They will create high-sensory art that highlights process and exploration (and not the end result of the artwork) with a focus on dynamic techniques from throwing, dripping, stamp-making, and resist art.

Core Art   (5 – 10 yrs)

Experimental Expedition

Our Core Artists will challenge traditional drawing methods and tools by creating their own. Encouraged by the self-made tools, they will exercise a different part of their brains by using not only their wrists but their whole shoulders and arms for drawing; strengthening their mind-eye-arm connection. They will use bold, free, expressive mark-making to portray a large-format still life or landscape.

Ready-Set-Draw   (8 yrs+)

Figure & Gesture

Take on the human form via gesture drawing. Take inspiration from French artist Fernand Leger and learn about the cubist revival. Focus on the anatomy through shapes modified in figurative and populist style. Play with proportion and learn to depict human figures in a variety of poses.

Here’s your chance to embark on a 3D yarn path to experimentation.

Architecture in Context  (13 yrs+)

Rendering technicalities with creativity, we explore architectural and interior spaces, with referenced imagery and floor plans of Hong Kong vibrant and historical landmarks to build a foundation of perspective, shape, space and form. Topics of investigation throughout the year range from Relocation, Restoration and Conversion, with rendition of a mix of architectural drawings, mood boards and illustrations; both conceptual and imaginative.

Sketchbook Studies / Painting (10 yrs+)

Warped Portrait
