Colour My World Easter 2025 Holiday Workshop

Easter 2025 Holiday Workshop

This holiday season, we will be celebrating Spring and new life as we sing, dance, paint, sculpt and craft our way through three mornings of fun-filled Art & Drama activities with the new All Art and All Drama mornings for 7-10 year olds.

Those aged 7-10 have a wealth of options! In the Art & Drama camp, they can create a mixed media bird portrait in Spring Wings and learn to think on their feet with improvisation acting. With the new All Art option, swap out improvisation for Needle-Felted Eggs or go All Drama and trade in the portrait for a Vocal Masterclass!

For those pottery-enthusiasts aged 7 yrs+, come customize your unique Tamagotchi clay pets with ceramicist Priscilla Chan this Easter!

Explorer’s Art   (3 – 5 yrs)

Bold Dreams

Come create endearing art that captures the whimsical, inspired by Joan Miro’s The Garden (1925) and Paul Klee’s collotype print The Bridegroom’s Arrival (1933). Using Miro’s iconic biomorphic forms, enigmatic symbols and great labyrinths of colour that reflect his interest in dreams, we will create bold expressive characters and interesting shapes to decorate a one-of-a-kind mobile. We shall then paint and collage a Kleesque relief art of our own fantastical portraiture with kaleidoscopic hues contrasted against black lines and mixed media elements.

Core Art   (5 – 10 yrs)

Green Daze

Two American artists’ works will be the springboard for the duet outcomes of Green Daze. With spring awakening all living things, we shall delve deep into the fantastical world of nature and botany. Study the very distinctive and divergent visual languages in Jonas Wood’s series of tropical foliage and Mark Bradford’s Wild Wild West. We shall explore practical renderings of flowers and plants, emphasizing the use of found materials and texture in the first tactile project, transfiguring everyday materials into a hands-on layered assemblage. Then in the second project, utilise blocking and stylisation for a graphical gouache illustration.

Drawing Fundamentals   (6 – 8 yrs)

Canned Toons

We will learn about the essential principles to creating a fun and captivating product design! By studying the works of legendary cartoonists such as Aaron Blaise, Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks, participants will learn the ins-and-outs to creating an emotive animal mascot for their fictional brand. Using core typography principles, acrylic paint and markers, they will then fashion a brand-name logo to be applied, along with their mascot, onto a physical object: a soda can!

Ready-Set-Draw   (8 yrs+)

Dynamic Composition

Discover the art of drawing objects by applying geometry and careful observation. Compile your best works into a dynamic, digitally-coloured composition inspired by the vivid and engaging pieces of contemporary artist Michael Craig-Martin.

Note: Students may be given an iPad with Procreate or a laptop with Photoshop to complete the digital colouring. Those with their own devices are encouraged to bring them in for the April month of classes.

Comics   (8 yrs+)

Mini Zines

Don’t wait to be a published author to start sharing your art and stories with the world. Instead jump into the art of creating your own mini zines! This term, learn about the history of zines and their purpose as a form of self-publishing. Come up with a theme you enjoy such as a zine all about personal experiences, music, the adventures of your own original character, or even foods and recipes! Fill your zine with a collage of comic strips, illustrations, and playful typography about your chosen theme. With the contents and layout complete, photocopy and assemble your zine for easy sharing with friends and family.

Ceramic Fanatics

(Pottery-Ceramics 10 yrs+)

Fundamentals Master Class

Learn to build three-dimensionally and excel in creation that takes form in art ware, figurines, sculpture, decorative and applied art objects. Acquire fundamental skills from pinching, coiling, slab to wheel-throwing, we shall experiment with new materials whilst utilising techniques of slip casting, clay modelling, and surface texturing.

NEW! Sculpture Culture

(Mixed-media 3D Design 10 yrs+)

Miniature Resin Figurines

Expand your repertoire of sculpting skill set this term as we dive into miniature figure moulding and resin casting. Learn the foundations of character design to come up with a 2D concept that you will then translate into 3D form. Go through the full process of creating miniature figures from building a wire maquette to detailed shaping with plasticine clay. Finally, learn to create silicone moulds of your plasticine maquettes – with that mould you will be able to create copies of your miniature figurine by using resin in a variety of colours for multiple interesting outcomes.

Pixelated

(Digital Arts 10 yrs+)

World of Pixels

Bring an imaginary world to life! From a cosy valley farm for you and your animals, to a jungle fortress for your monster pals, the possibilities are endless. We’ll combine worldbuilding techniques with pixel art to create a coherent world from the ground up; landscapes, buildings, all the way to the inhabitants. Newcomers can tackle the project in a retro, minimalist 8-bit style, while our Pixelated veterans can take on the role of a modern indie game developer.

Sketchbook Studies & Painting   (10 yrs+)

Objects in Watercolour

Master the essential techniques of watercolour painting and the art of object composition. Dive into the world of still life as you learn to arrange and photograph your creations. Design your still life using a captivating colour scheme, like split-complementary or triadic. Finally, bring your vision to life by painting an original large-scale watercolour artwork from your photograph.

Mentor Studio   (13 yrs+)

For art enthusiasts who are considering Art for GCSE, A-Levels, IGCSE or IB; or who simply enjoy being stretched artistically. Mentor Studio is open to any participants who want to strengthen their skill repertoire, build on their collection of portfolio-worthy artworks, or explore challenging themes through open-end self-enquiry guided closely by a mentor. Acquire in-depth knowledge and understanding of art-form, techniques and styles used as we guide you through various artistic decision and pathways to artistic achievement.

Architecture in Context   (13 yrs+)

Rendering technicalities with creativity, we explore architectural and interior spaces, with referenced imagery and floor plans of Hong Kong vibrant and historical landmarks to build a foundation of perspective, shape, space and form. Topics of investigation throughout the year range from Relocation, Restoration and Conversion, with rendition of a mix of architectural drawings, mood boards and illustrations; both conceptual and imaginative.
