The older students aged 8+, 10+ and 12+ may acquire editorial writing & creative design skills in Wild Magazine (8 yrs+), learn iphone photography editing & visual narrative in iPhone Photography (12 yrs+), or master gradient and creative, illustrative graphic design in Aesthetic Graphic Illustration (10 yrs+).

Create an Egyptian mummy inspired by the lovable Murray from Hotel Transylvania. What shape do you want for your free-standing character? Explore crafting techniques involved with papier mâché as we mimic the mummified wrappings with linen and mod roc. Let’s scare your parents with your very own Mummy!
IN DRAMA…
Show off your dancing and singing skills this October break learning new and exciting choreography to classic spooky songs! Delve into the world of Hotel Transylvania and recreate your own dance floor scene from the animated movie. You will combine singing and dancing for a bold musical theatre performance!

Pick from concealed boxes containing word descriptions of monster body parts – from head to tail (and other bits) to create a truly surprising creature of the dark! Participants will create an eerily whimsical illustration-painting of their creature, inspired by the style and vision of Tim Burton.

Present your best acting skills as we put on a short showcase of Halloween stories. Enhance your script reading abilities and performing skills as we delve deep into spooky tales. Explore techniques from The Theatre of the Absurd to truly bring your absurdist scripts to life. Acquire new vocal and movement skills to give a haunting performance.

Learn about the aesthetics of dramatic, moody, high-contrast vintage book covers through renowned artist, illustrator, and graphic designer Alan Aldridge (amongst others). Use a prompt to spark your imagination. Create a book cover or poster illustration for your sci-fi, horror, or thriller concept using gouache on black card/paper. Learn to apply gradients, use a limited exciting colour palette, consider lettering, and design your layout to produce a visually thrilling artwork.

Learn more about these stories, find fun facts online and fine-tune your informative writing. Then, complement your words with engaging visual contents to craft a one-page article for a magazine.
