This October Holiday, delve into the uncanny, unusual, and strange, as we explore the fanciful world of dreams with Surrealism and travel through the waking world with body movement.
Celebrate autumn as we create whimsical aesthetics by participating in our three-morning art, drama and storytelling camps. For 4-6 yrs, there’s wacky character building in Drama through vocal work and in Art, puppet design. Our 7-10 yrs will devise a story to music in Drama and draw an animated surreal GIF in Art. The 10+ will be inspired by both Dada and Surrealism to create their own unique digital collage.

IN VISUAL ART…
Use some unusual and imaginative methods to create your own puppet characters. Unlock the power of the subconscious through Rorschach tests and automatic drawing to dream up your designs. Then craft a poseable paper puppet in black ink with some splashes of colour.
IN DRAMA…
Join us as we delve into the weird and wonderful. Our young actors will explore the abstract side to drama and embody funny and wacky characters to tell an obscure story. Be amused and enchanted exploring the art of character building and vocal work!

Combine the real and unreal into something… surreal! Draw using pencil and ink, then transfer the artwork to your digital device to add colour and movement. Salvador Dali dreamt of melting clocks and blazing giraffes. Delve into your own dreams to find inspiration for your animated GIF.
(Participants will need to bring their own laptop or tablet, with Photoshop or Procreate installed. A free trial of Photoshop is available on the Adobe website.)
IN DRAMA…
Present your best acting skills as we work on movement this holiday. Using solely movement work, we will devise and perform a short story to music. Enhance your movement skills and take your acting to the next level!

Beloved by Dadaists and Surrealists alike, it’s collage! Choose from magazines, prints, and even photos you’ll take yourself. Then select, cut, and arrange from your assortment of imageries to create a dreamlike landscape inhabited by make-believe figures to tell a thought-provoking story through digital editing. Consider colour, composition, and remix the legendary works of artists like Man Ray and Frida Kahlo.
