Join us for a spook-tacular time with Colour My World’s Half-Term workshops in a wide spectrum of creative expressions, from K-Pop Dance to Painting to Ceramics. Younger children aged 4-6 will dance to the Monster Mash, and make elaborate trick-or-treat buckets. Those aged 7-10 will pay tribute to the popular K-Pop Demon Hunters through Dance and Transforming Portrait  Painting. This age group may also opt for ALL ART or ALL DRAMA workshops. The oldest of 10+ will create a Modern Yokai Illustration in liner and watercolour inspired yokai and yoguai as well as the aesthetics of ukiyo-e, telling their own modernised tales. Alternatively, the older kids can opt in for Ceramics to build their own eclectic slab vases.

Taking inspiration from a range of sources:  from the legendary Hokusai to the contemporary Ukiyo-e Project, you’ll ponder the question, “What would a Yōkai look like in our modern era?” Take inspiration from the aesthetics of a traditional woodblock print with thin, precise illustrative lines. Then, learn how to draw attention to your spooky subject using the contrast of empty space and areas of fine details. Finally, add some colour to your creation with a controlled palette of watercolour.

Taking inspiration from a range of sources:  from the legendary Hokusai to the contemporary Ukiyo-e Project, you’ll ponder the question, “What would a Yōkai look like in our modern era?” Take inspiration from the aesthetics of a traditional woodblock print with thin, precise illustrative lines. Then, learn how to draw attention to your spooky subject using the contrast of empty space and areas of fine details. Finally, add some colour to your creation with a controlled palette of watercolour.

Hand-build a colourful, eclectic slab vase (measuring approximately 15 cm in height). Start your funky design with a paper template. Then score, slip, join and strengthen the slabs into your desired form. Master sgraffito and inlay techniques as you fill carved indentations in the surface with contrasting coloured slip. Use bold-coloured underglaze to complete your unique homeware piece.
