Facilitator’s Profile : Originally from Belgium, Bernard Henin has a BA Sc degree of Applied Science (Biotechnology). After an international career serving science and internet-based companies in UK, he followed his passion and became a writer and an English teacher. Bernard now specialises in communication, having written STEM magazines aimed at children as well as non-fiction books in space science. Henin has hosted public speaking workshops at international schools and events throughout Hong Kong and UK. He is the project leader of CMW Speak Aloud & Creative Writing programmes.

IN VISUAL ART…

Train your fine motor skills and eye for colour. Use papier mâché and an assortment of finely shredded paper to create a delicate, organically shaped nest. Decorate eggs to add to your nest as a finishing touch. Learn moulding techniques and practice playing with delicate materials.

IN DRAMA…

Our young performers of 4 – 6.5 yrs get to immerse themselves in the story of The Wind in the Willows. Explore the wonderful story of Mole, Ratty, Badger and Mr Toad and deliver a physical, energetic story. We will picnic on the riverbank, investigate the open road and even escape prison. Learn narrative pantomime and physical movement.

Our older performers aged 6.5 – 10 yrs are tasked with recreating the adventurous story of The Gruffalo, a children’s classic. Participate in this advanced platform of storytelling to expand themed creative characterisation skills and boost collaborative ensemble-building.

Create a geometrical, festive bull collage that can stand on its own feet. Use a variety of textures as well as lustrous materials including assorted paper, fabric swatches and laisee packets. Begin the collage on card and take home a free-standing geometric bull to welcome in the lunar new year.

IN DRAMA…

Our young performers of 4 – 6.5 yrs will explore storytelling and the Zodiac animals through physical theatre practice. Learning narrative pantomime and physical movement, participants are invited to discover the traits of the twelve Zodiac animals as characterised in the story of “The Zodiac Animals”, delivering a physical and energetic story.

IN DRAMA…

For our older performers aged 6.5 – 10 yrs, we will expand our creativity with themed characterisation and physical theatre techniques. This advanced platform of storytelling will boost collaborative ensemble-building skills of our performers, recreating the adventurous story of “The Great Animal Race”.

Our young performers of 4 – 6.5 yrs will engage in stylised movement phrases, to create stage pictures of frolicsome and festive activities. In our ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’ drama workshop for 6.5 – 10 yrs, we will expand our creative boundaries with themed characterisation. Using choral speaking techniques, visual representations of freeze frames for the calendar and soundscapes to create a bold adaptation and recorded parody of our new song of ’12 Days of Winter Holiday’.

Fluttering Butterflies

Inspired by David Kravoc’s colourfully crafted butterfly sculpture, this workshop introduces simple paper crafting techniques to paint, fold and build a decorative relief sculpture of countless fluttering butterflies creating a vibrant cloud of happiness.

 

Wildlife Mélange

Introducing CMW’s School of Drama! Come and attend a crash course of drama where each day will be dedicated to in-depth training of a performing arts skill that participants can bring to the stage. Our 3-morning programme will be split into juniors and advanced levels to give the most effective learning experience for all ages. This fantastic fast-paced workshop is guaranteed to boost self-confidence and push the imagination.

Storytelling Crash Course (4 – 6.5 yrs) – Our younger performers will participate in activities that are story driven like Freeze Frames – Character Walk – Cultivating their own ideas, and honing performing elements.

Musical Theatre Crash Course (6.5 – 10 yrs) – For each day of the crash course the performers will engage in a different activity related to different aspects of Musical Theatre. Songs and movement will be designed to give a taste of what a musical theatre rehearsal is like.

PROFILE: Roy Cheung Yuen Lung – BSc Music and Sound Recording (Tonmeister) graduate with a First Class Honours and 10 musical, engineering and linguistic awards from the University of Surrey, UK. The prestigious Surrey Tonmeister degree is unique, blending rigorous musical study, advanced investigation of audio engineering and mastery of sound-recording operation and practice. Having completed a placement year at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Roy has developed audio and video production skills, in addition to a full repertoire of merits covering 7 piano scholarships and competitions, orchestral music reading and the 2017 Dave Fisher Classical Recording Prize for best classical recording portfolio.
