Explorer’s Art   (3 – 5 yrs)

Woof, Meow, Squeak!

Kick start a year of training fine motor skills and drawing know-how with an adventure into the animal kingdom! Our Explorers will gain foundational drawing skills to recreate the distinctive features of their favourite animals, then work on those developing motor skills as they draw, cut and fashion a colourful animal collage. Then it’s onto the next stop of our animal safari with multi-layered stencil printing, building spatial awareness as we explore layouts and compositions.

Core Art   (5 – 10 yrs)

Where Does It Grow?

It’s never too early to get into modern art! This year in Core Art we’ll be taking inspiration from a range of contemporary artists alongside some other classic references. First up we’ll set the scene with Vincent van Gogh-inspired still life paintings to pick up the essentials of drawing and painting from real life observation, namely, potatoes! Then it’s on to the work of installation and sculptural artist Hu Yinping, whose “Potatoes Grow On Trees” was exhibited at Art Basel | Hong Kong 2026. Respond to her unusual floating potatoes with yarn-wrapped fruit and vegetable sculptures of your own as we contemplate our food origin ecosystem and how care, labour and community are appreciated.

Drawing Fundamentals   (6 – 8 yrs)

Contrast / Emphasis

Build a strong foundation for a visual art journey with Drawing FUNdamentals as we explore the “7 Principles of Art”: Emphasis, Contrast, Balance, Movement, Rhythm, Pattern and Unity in the upcoming year. This fall term we will tackle Emphasis and Contrast, creating a high-contrast b/w self-portrait with India ink. Then emphasise a key detail with a pop of an accent colour to add personality to an otherwise neutral palette!

Ready-Set-Draw   (8 yrs+)

Editorial Illustration

Breathe life into any published article with an editorial illustration. Pick out a news story from a selection of articles and design a conceptual illustration which captures the essence of the writing. Planning and composition will be the key skills at work when you create a mixed-media collage using a combination of meticulously trimmed and arranged found images alongside detailed ink illustrations.

Comics   (8 yrs+)

The Funnies

Join us this year as we take a deeper look at how comic artistry has evolved over the years. What was the first comic you ever read? Oftentimes the first introduction to comics and sequential art is through newspaper comic strips. Create 3-4 short comic strips of your own reminiscent of the ‘Sunday funnies’ historically included in weekend newspapers. Just like these iconic comic strip sections, your comic will follow the same series of characters as they go about their humorous misadventures. Using ink and watercolour, refresh your comic fundamentals with a focus on quick, witty storytelling, clear illustrations, and streamlined panel layouts.

(Digital Arts 10 yrs+)

Paint a Photo

Start a new year of Pixelated where we’ll explore digital art as an accessible and limitless canvas for self-expression, starting with a crash course through the basics of several, varied techniques. Create an authentic mixed-media self-portrait using a wide range of genres from traditional media painting, to photography, editing, and digital painting. Wear your heart on your sleeve, displaying inner thoughts and interests with visual cues. At Beginner level you’ll learn an array of photo manipulation techniques combined with the basics of digital painting. At Advanced level, our Pixelated veterans will apply their skills to a challenge that utilises photo manipulation as the foundation for a lushly detailed digital painting.

Ceramic Fanatics

Ramen Set

In 2026-07, we shall be diving into advanced hand-building (and wheel-throwing techniques for advanced participants), focusing on how to combine different textures and forms to express unique visual stories. Whether it’s a home-cooked meal or a pack of instant noodles, enjoy your ramen in style! Start off with the basics introducing modern tableware design that balances ergonomics, durability and aesthetics. Start with weight distribution, assistive contours, tactile textures and geometric sketching. Hand-build your bowl and sgraffito patterns and motifs to signal symbolic meanings. Then it’s time to bisque fire the bowls in our new on-site kiln, ready for the finishing touches with clear and coloured glazes. Lastly, hone essential wheel-throwing technique to fashion a sauce dish to match your ramen bowl!

Sketchbook Studies & Painting   (10 yrs+)

Impression of Reality

This year’s sketchbook studies takes cues from the art styles outlined in the IB Visual Art curriculum, starting with Impressionistic Realism. Create the illusion of texture of metal, glass, and/or fur in this oil-heavy term. Start the year with a recap of foundational techniques and a focus on painting the illusion of realism with loose expressive brush strokes and pure colour mixes in oil. Start with object construction and sketching, then practice underpainting, and lastly alla prima painting (direct painting technique). Take inspiration from impressionistic still-lives by Noah Verrier and Edouard Manet

Mentor Studio   (13 yrs+)

For art enthusiasts who are considering Art for GCSE, A-Levels, IGCSE or IB; or who simply enjoy being stretched artistically. Mentor Studio is open to any participants who want to strengthen their skill repertoire, build on their collection of portfolio-worthy artworks, or explore challenging themes through open-ended self-enquiry guided closely by a mentor. Acquire in-depth knowledge and understanding of art-form, techniques and styles used as we guide you through various artistic decision and pathways to artistic achievement.
